Also consider verbally announcing to students that the session will be recorded. Consider using Zoom’s consent to be recorded.Let those students know the solution is to turn off their video within Zoom during those sessions.

Ask students in advance to let you know if they are concerned.

Send an announcement to the class via Canvas letting them know that you plan to record some or all of these sessions and whether you plan on posting the recordings within Canvas.

To safeguard student privacy when recording, please be mindful of the following recommendations:

Chat file: text file of the chat from the meeting.Recording class lessons on Zoom is good practice as students with unstable internet connections or who may be attending class from different time zones will be able to rewatch material as needed.

Audio transcript: VTT with a transcript of the audio.

Shared Screen: MP4 with video and audio showing the shared screen only.

Gallery View: MP4 with video and audio with gallery view only.

Active speaker: MP4 with video and audio with the active speaker only.

If the meeting was recorded in a shared screen with a gallery view, it will be in an MP4 format with video and audio showing both shared content and the gallery view.

If the meeting was recorded in a shared screen with a speaker view, it will be in an MP4 format with video and audio showing both the active speaker and shared content.

Meetings saved to the cloud are automatically deleted after 120 days.You can also use the date range boxes to search for recordings within specific time frames or enter the meeting ID to find a specific recording.Meetings that haven't finished their conversion process will have a 'Processing Recording' label and can't be accessed.
